Living with Shushanik Kurghinyan

Public readings of texts by feminist and revolutionary writer Shushanik Kurghinyan.

Shushanik Kurghinyan was the first feminist Armenian writer. The public readings of her texts took place on November 30th, 2013, in the empty fountains of the Republic Square metro station in Yerevan, Armenia.

Through Facebook, a call was send out to join the event and actively participate in the readings. Selected texts of the writer were shared and participants were asked to choose and read a text during the event. On site, the books of the writer were also available in Armenian and English. More than 30 people joined the call, came to the fountain and actively participated by reading the poems. The project has been implemented in collaboration with Arevik Martirosyan and aimed to feminize the public space.
